Southern Queensland Accelerated Road Rehabilitation Program (SQ ARRP)
The SQARRP Alliance has been set up to deliver a project that involves the design and construction of 28 concrete bridges in SE Queensland to replace existing timber bridges that can no longer service the heavier transport loads on the road network. The Project has an overall budget of $115M and will be undertaken over the next 2 ½ years. CMC are responsible for construction of the northern most 14 bridges. Of the total value of the Alliance, CMC’s component is approximately 50% (ie. the remaining 50% is split between the other 5 Alliance participants). This means that CMC have by far the largest individual proportion of the value of the overall project. As of mid August, works have been commenced at Philpott Creek, Woowoonga Creek and Boonara Creek sites. CMC has also established a Project Office and compound near Gympie, on the corner of Sexton Road and the Wide Bay Highway, which will be in place for another 15 months or so before we re-establish an office in or around Bundaberg for the second half of the project. This is the first Alliance project that CMC have been involved with as a company. The benefits of working closely with another Construction Company as well as the Designers and the Client are already proving to be very worthwhile to delivery of the project.
