CMC awarded contract for the Bruce Highway Pedestrian Overpass

New bridge will be located adjacent to the existing rail bridge

CMC has been awarded a $0.9 million contract by the Fraser Coast Regional Council for the construction of a Pedestrian Overpass to the Bruce Highway at Maryborough.

The bridge, designed by Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, will consist of two 25 metre spans constructed using precast prestress concrete Troff girders with a single 1500mm diameter reinforced concrete central pier.

The construction of the bridge will present a number of challenges to the CMC project team, as it located in a narrow corridor between existing high voltage overhead power lines and a railway bridge.

Work is due to commence on site in March 2010 and continues CMC's demonstrated success in bridge construction.
