Eastern Pipeline Alliance - Kuraby and Paringa Booster Pump Stations
The Western Corridor Recycled Water Project is an important part of the Queensland Government’s $9 billion South East Queensland Water Grid, the largest urban drought response in Australia. The purpose of the Eastern Pipeline is to link existing wastewater treatment plants with new advanced water treatment plants, and to transfer purified recycled water produced at the advanced water treatment plants to end users. The Kuraby and Paringa Booster Pump Stations are essential to the successful operation of the Luggage Point to Bundamba pipeline to achieve full capacity of 120ML per day.
Completed in October 2009, the booster pump stations required the construction of two 50 x 20 metre reinforced concrete panel tilt-up buildings. The project also included the installation of the associated 1050mm diameter pipe work, pumps, civil works, road works and mechanical equipment. Other associated works consisted of fire mains, booster pumps, concrete pavements and all plumbing and drainage.
Civil Mining and Construction’s dual capacity as a civil and building contractor provided an integrated construction solution for the multidisciplinary works, allowing the Alliance to manage a single contractor rather than separate contractors.
