Our History
Sheppard Earthmoving was founded in 1971 by John and June Sheppard. John started out like many successful construction contractors with one truck and one employee, himself. Over the subsequent three decades Sheppard Earthmoving expanded to become a medium size Civil Contracting company serving the Wide Bay and Fraser Coast regions of Queensland.
John’s philosophy during this time remained unerring in a quest to become renowned as "The down to Earth Specialist". This was achieved by establishing a reputation as being an honest and reliable contractor.
In mid 2004 John justifiably decided that 35 years of contracting was enough and retired. Sheppard Earthmoving was sold to Civil, Mining & Construction Pty Ltd, a private company wholly owned by Peter Kendall and David Ahern. Due to the Company’s continued diversification into the civil, mining and construction industries, the trading name was changed to "CMC" an acronym for Civil, Mining & Construction.
In late 2008, CMC relocated its head office from Maryborough to Eagle Farm, in Brisbane. Retaining its plant workshop and yard in Maryborough, the company continues to support the Wide Bay and Fraser Coast community.
The philosophy of the Peter and David continues John’s 35 year legacy of honesty, integrity and reliability, and uses their own wealth of knowledge and experience to continue to grow and diversify CMC into a major second tier multidisciplinary contractor.
